Ludo Tolhuizen honorary member of the WIC
At the WIC General Assembly on May 28, 2019, held at the WIC/SP Symposium in Ghent, Ludo Tolhuizen from Philips Research has been awarded the honorary membership of the WIC. Ludo very much deserves this tribute because of his extensive service to the WIC. He has served as a board member since 1998 (in the capacity of secretary in the years 1998-2006 and 2010-2019) and was for many years the head of the jury deciding on the best student paper/presentation awards at the annual WIC/SP Symposia. At the General Assembly Ludo stepped down as secretary, but fortunately he will remain a board member.

Prof.ir. IJsbrand Boxma,

passed away on June 19, 2015, at the age of 92.
He was emeritus-hoogleraar in information theory at Delft University of Technology, Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw and Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau. He organized the first WIC Symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux, which was held in Zoetermeer in 1980. In 2015 we had the 36th edition of this annual symposium taking place in Brussels, showing the success of the series that he started, binding the various information theory activities in the Benelux.
